Have you ever heard a cover song without having actually heard the original, and when you do, you think "Jeez, so-and-so's version was so much better..."?

One example, of course, is Cookie's "Always be my baby". I looked for the original thinking it would be alike, maybe a lot higher, but about the same. Man, was I ever wrong. It was nothing like Cookie's cover. It was a lot faster, a lot happier-sounding. Come to think of it, it's a very optimistic song, maybe a bit deluded, but David Cook just makes it sound so... sad.

Another one was a cover of Sean Kingston's "Take you there", by Alejandro (I'm so naming my kid that! Awesome!) Manzano of Boyce Avenue. No, seriously. It's an acoustic version. I think it's better than the original, but I don't like... that kind of music. What's it called anyway? It's not rap, which is what I associate black guys with. It's not really pop, is it? What with all the references to the slums? I am so confused. I seek enlightenment - in the form of Wikipedia.

Wikipedia says it's Pop/Reggae. So what is it?! Pop? Or reggae? Pop-reggae? Like pop-rock? Why isn't it called rock-pop? Rock is clearly the superior genre! Pop is like the puppy to the wolf rock is! HEIL ROCK! ROCK IS THE SEX! THE ONE AND ONLY SEX! Pop is... um, sloppy french kissing. Especially mainstream pop. Retarded teenagers all obsessed with it. BUT THE AWESOME PEOPLE LISTEN TO ROCK! Not that I'm encouraging people to have sex! Whoooo, awkward. Yeeeeah. Sooo. Don't have sex people. It's a dirty, dirty thing and you'll go to hell. PFFT.

SEX!: Always Be My Baby - (SEXY!) David Cook (ROCK!)
